So it has been about 3 years since GTA V was released; and boy does that game sure as hell hold up. The online communities on all platforms are still pretty strong, and no matter how many times you load up the game there is still something fun and exciting to do.

Well looks like Rockstar North and Take-Two Interactive might be gifting their fans a little earlier this time around; a rumor has just begun to circulate around Reddit that Take-Two Interactive has set a release date of September 2017 for the newest Grand Theft Auto game.

There is almost nothing else surrounding this rumor other than the Reddit post, which read:

My coworker’s brother works for take-two entertainment and told me that Rockstar is planning on a September 2017 release for the next GTA. Does that sound right? He works for take-two and he messaged me on Twitter (not sure if I should release his account info) and told me that R* is ballparking a late 2017 release for GTA 6.

But, if you take into consideration the release date gap between GTA IV and GTA V (5 years), then this 4 year difference isn’t that far off.

When I first came across this post, I assumed it was most likely going to be an expansion pack to GTA V, but I don’t think Rockstar would release an expansion pack this far away from the game’s initial release when GTA IV received its expansion packs (The Lost and Dammed  and The Ballad of Gay Tony) the following year.

Other semi-rumors surrounding GTA VI include the idea of having a female lead. Dan Houser, co-founder/VP of Creativity for Rockstar Games, has said this after being questioned about the possibility of their being a female led Grand Theft Auto game in the future:

In the future, could we do a game with a lead female character? Of course. We just haven’t found the right game for it yet, but it’s one of the things that we always think about. It didn’t feel natural for this game but definitely for the right game in the future – with the right themes, it could be fantastic

Who knows if this new GTA installment will feature a female lead, or if they still haven’t found the right theme to fit one into, but as of recently fans have already expressed their opinions on where GTA VI should take place in.

GTA V had us revisit San Andrea’s (and everyone pretty much loved it), so I don’t think many will reject the idea of going back to Vice City. Also, that GIF is really cool and would be a very fitting location for GTA VIce.

The biggest question surround this new installment is whether or not Rockstar will be bringing back the 3-player mechanic that brought a breath of fresh air to GTA V.

What do you guys think? Is there anything you all would like to see come back to the series? Anything new they should try? New location ideas? Is Obama really a lizard in disguise? Comment below and discuss.
