Bill Nye’s newest show, Bill Nye Saves the World, has been out for almost a week now (release date: April 21, 2017) and soon after its debut on the streaming platform, Netflix, a meme began spreading supposedly showing Bill Nye going back on one of his previous statements.

In episode 9 of Bill Nye Saves the World, Bill opens up the episode with a statement many people find controversial:

“These are human chromosomes. They contain all the genes you need to make a human person. This one is called an X chromosome and this one down there, that’s a Y chromosome. They are sex chromosomes. Females usually have two Xs and males usually have an X and a Y. But it turns out, about 1 in every 400 pregnancies have a different number of sex chromosomes. Some people only have one sex chromosome, some people have 3, 4 or even 5. For me, I usually feel like I have a lot.

But using science, we know that sex and every aspect of human sexuality, well, it’s a little complicated.

The world is wonderfully diverse. As scientists, we use the scientific method to try and understand that diversity. That is what is happening with the study of human sex and sexuality. Right now, biologists, sociologists, anthropologists, they all are trying to figure this out. And they are finding out that human sexuality is on a spectrum.”

And just like that, Bill Nye riled up tons of viewers with his ‘liberal nonsense’ and pitchfork/torch sells began skyrocketing.

Eventually, some began to look through Bill Nye’s past works in order to find some form of evidence to prove that he is nothing but a pawn paid by the Left to push the Liberal agenda.

This image was then ‘taken’ from Nye’s past show, Bill Nye the Science Guy:

Once the internet meme trolls got their grimy digital hands on this image, memes began to pop up devaluing Bill Nye.

Understandably, people were outraged. All it took was a Netflix deal for this guy of science to backtrack on a previous statement.

Well…

It’s a Fake Image

Common Interneters™ usually go by the following path:

  1. Browse internet
  2. See controversy
  3. Get enraged
  4. Not fact check
  5. Tell others

If anyone had actually gone back to the episode that the screenshot was supposedly pulled from, then would this whole thing would have died at the source and not given fuel to the ignorant fire the newer generation is struggling to put out.

Literally, all it took was a quick search of Bill Nye the Science Guy Genes on YouTube to find this clip:

After that, I searched the internet for more proof that image was fake and I found myself on the Snopes website; a highly trusted source for proving or disproving internet rumors.

They not only point to a similar clip but also say that, “At no point does [Bill Nye] say that gender is determined by chromosomes, in this scene or anywhere else.”

What You Should Do

Stop being a child when it comes to gender issues. If someone is born one gender but identifies as another gender, you are no one to tell them they are wrong.

If it doesn’t make sense to you, then talk it out.; it’s called learning.

Get a different perspective on life and get a grasp on the idea that the world isn’t just black and white, rather than shut your mind off and pout bitterly while the world chooses to evolve without you.

Also, fact check everything you see.
