It wasn’t too long ago that Pokemon GO players everywhere were up in arms over the news that someone managed to get their virtual hands on the Legendary Pokemon, Articuno (The Water Finch).
The lucky trainer’s name is kaitcovey and her post managed to split the internet in two. While some were in disbelief that a Legendary Pokemon has been made available for capture, others were readying their pitchforks and fire torches in hopes of scaring kaitcovey to admit to her lies.
Although Articuno’s appearance in kaitcovey’s collection was in-fact real, it was not done so legitimately. Niantic Labs, the developers behind Pokemon GO, have taken it upon themselves to delete Articuno from kaitcovey’s collection. Chris Kramer, a PR Rep for Niantic Labs, had this to say about the situation:
“We recently noticed that a few Legendary Pokémon got into a few accounts when they shouldn’t have. To preserve the game’s integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokémon from the Trainers’ accounts.”
Judging by that statement, Articuno may not have been the only Legendary Pokemon to make it into the game by accident, but little is known about any other similar incidents.
Who knows when we’ll be graced by the presence of another Legendary Pokemon; it will most likely come during the holiday season (which is about months away).
