The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia. Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time

The above quote comes from the official Mr. Robot twitter page, and was meant to explain to audiences everywhere after their disappointment upon hearing that the season finale to the very popular show Mr. Robot was postponed from its original August 26 air date to September 2.

The scene mentioned in the tweet was filmed prior to the tragic events that occurred earlier today, and depicts (POSSIBLE MR. ROBOT SPOILERS) an interview taking place in which someone opens fire one someone else.

I understand that the above depiction rarely spoils anything due to its vagueness, but I can’t be too careful. Every series has its super fans and the above description could be all that person needs to predict the ending.

As mentioned before, the series will have its season finale as promised, but it will not be for another week and will most likely be an edited version of the original with the above scene omitted from the final cut.

Mr. Robot is not the first TV show that had to go into sudden editing after a tragic event. The most well-known similar case involved Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer where, due to a mass school shooting, they had to cut a scene from an episode in which a mass school shooting was recorded for the show.
