The cancellation of Silent Hills left a big gaping hole in our horror-loving hearts, and the deletion of Silent Hills: PT from PSN drove a cone-shaped stake in that hole, expanding the hole and making the pain even more unbearable.

However, with the game Allison Road getting further into its development and now Layers of Fear looking as promising as the late Kojima/Del Torro team-up title, Silent Hills, we might be finding ourselves with a chunk big enough to heal our wounded hearts.

Melancholic poetry aside, Layers of Fear is looking to deliver exactly what its title says.

In the game, you play a struggling artist with a difficult and sporadic personality whose current creative block is only exacerbating his unkind personality. The Layers of Fear early access Steam page calls the game:

..a psychedelic horror that will keep you on-edge for the reminder of the game. Delve deep into the mind of an insane painter and discover the secret of his madness, as you walk through a constantly shifting house.

Heavily inspired by the masterpiece paintings from the past centuries, and the architecture and décor from the XIX century. Layers of Fear is a truly unique experience, where each move of the camera can change your surroundings.

Layer by layer uncover the visions, fears and horrors that entwine the protagonist and finish the masterpiece he has strived so long to create.

At the moment Layers of Fear is only available through early access which means that if purchased it will be done as an unfinished product. As the developers over at Bloobers progress with the game, so will your gameplay.

For anyone who has ever played the game Among The Sleep, you’ll probably notice this game’s similarities with it. Both are offer a first-person perspective on a character trekking through the surroundings as reality and imagination collide. However, in Among The Sleep you play as a baby while Layers of Fear has an adult as its main character, so we can expect much more violent thing happening to our distraught painter.

There is no officially set release date for this game, but you can check out the trailer below and you can also check out the official Bloober website here for further information on this game and others.
