Many people joke about the Dragon Ball Z franchise as being just a couple of alien dudes, punching each other, and yelling for what seems like hours on end.
As a fan of the series, I can say that…yeah that’s exactly what it is.
It’s Testosterone: The Show
“Just a couple of guys being dudes.”
Points to you if you caught that throwback Vine reference 💯 💯 💯
Despite the show being very formulaic, it’s mildly interesting enough to put on every now and then when you want to watch some cool animations, fight scenes, and high-definition sweating.
Truthfully, the show, as of now, is best when watching only the fillers. They’re entertaining looks into the lives of overpowered aliens attempting to live normal lives, and they well exemplify Toriyama’s skill as a comedy writer.
The fighting is mostly for the ‘bros’ of the fanbase; otherwise known as the worst part of any fanbase.
As of now, Dragon Ball is on its newest iteration, Dragon Ball Super, which is the 5th installment, that is also technically the 4th installment, but also even more technically the 3rd installment.
The show follows the Z Fighters who, after having 2 its members reach Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan 2 form, face off against stronger enemies than before.
Basically, the same plot as the previous installments, just with less words in the transformation name.
Well, guess what?!
After being defeated by yet another powerful enemy (Jiren), Goku transforms into an even more powerful form of himself, because f*ck being a God, that’s for p*ssies.

Though this new form, called ‘Ultra Instinct’ is not entirely new (Beerus and Whis use it), it is a new step up for Goku that will most certainly make Vegeta jealous, causing him to fight above his paygrade until he angrily reaches Goku’s level.
DBZ bros will be excited to hear of Goku’s new level of a**kickery, but…personally…cool I guess. He’s a different shade of blue now; aesthetic levels 10outta10.
Honestly, the inclusion of ‘super saiyan’ kind of killed the franchise for me. I still keep up with it, but Dragon Ball was the franchise’s prime.
Can’t wait until Goku reaches Super Ultra Instinct Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan 2…mode.
