A month after revealing that a security breach has exposed social security numbers and birth dates numbering 145.5 million, it looks like Equifax has been breached again.
An independent security analyst has reported that the site has been hacked again. In a video he shows that clicking on the site’s link redirected him to a URL telling him to download malware.
At this point part of the site has been taken offline and an Equifax spokesman has said ” Our IT and security teams are looking into this matter, and out of abundance of caution have temporarily taken this page offline.”
Along with this on Thursday, a top Republican congressman, Patrick Mc Henry introduced a bill that would stop credit reporting companies like Equifax from using social security numbers to verify American’s identities.
As of now the companies’ shares are down 1.2% at $109.18 in early afternoon trading.
