While debates raged through the halls of the L.A. Convention Center on just how bad Batman vs Superman sucked, opinion on one DC property was overwhelming at WonderCon, that of the fans that got to see a sneak preview of AMC’s adaptation of Preacher.
Though I attended and was unable to see the screening myself, the buzz was undeniable as lucky fans who got to see the unfinished pilot raved, some even declaring Preacher to be as good as if not better than current top comic adaptations Daredevil and The Flash.
Official reviews are no doubt embargoed for now, but AMC should rest easy knowing that Preacher will sit well next to Walking Dead as a fan favorite.
Preacher will star Dominic Cooper , who also plays Howard Stark in the MCU and Agent Carter, as the titular character.
One officially released item has fans outside of WonderCon assured in the proper adaptation, is a still of Ian Colletti as Arseface. A nice young guy who botched a suicide attempt, Arseface’s now resembles a sphincter, hence the name.
Further assuring fans, the look was achieved with prosthetic makeup, as confirmed by series producer Seth Rogen at SXSW.
Also starring in Preacher are Ruth Negga (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Joe Gilgun (Misfits), Tom Brooke (Game of Thrones), W. Earl Brown (Deadwood), Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds), and Jackie Earle Haley.
Preacher will premiere Sunday, May 22 on AMC.
